Description

A unique experience that will allow you to discover the most impressive landscapes of northern Spain. It is a route that runs through a region full of history, culture and natural beauty, where you can get to know some of the most charming and picturesque villages in the area. Starting in Valdegovía, a municipality surrounded by green valleys and known for its tranquility and proximity to the Valderejo Natural Park, the route continues to Astillero, in Cantabria, where the seafaring tradition and the charm of a unique natural environment will make you feel the link between the sea and the mountains. Further on, the trip will take you to Castillejo de Robledo, in Soria, a place full of medieval history that keeps in its streets the essence of the legend of El Cid Campeador, with its impressive Romanesque church and the ruins of its castle. Finally, you will arrive in Duruelo de la Sierra, a town surrounded by mountains and forests, where nature shows its maximum splendor in places such as the source of the Duero River and the Picos de Urbión. Each stop on this route invites you to enjoy the culture, tradition, and stunning natural beauty that characterize this region of northern Spain.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN VALDEGOVÍA

3:00 p.m – Check-in at rural accommodation in Valdegovia.

3:30 p.m – Visit to the Valdegovia Tourist Office to get local information and stamp the passport.

4:00 p.m – Visit to the Valderejo Natural Park Interpretation Center, with interactive exhibits on local flora and fauna, and access to scenic viewpoints.

5:30 p.m – Visit to the Varona Tower-Palace, a fortified complex from the 14th–15th centuries, considered the best-preserved in Álava.

8:00 p.m – Dinner at the accommodation, specialty: Bacalao al pil-pil, a classic recipe that combines the flavor of cod with an exquisite emulsified sauce.

  • Includes a glass of D.O.Ca. Rioja Alavesa wine.

9:30 p.m Overnight stay in Valdegovia.

9:30 a.m – Visit to a sausage workshop, with tasting of artisanal products.

11:00 a.m – Visit to the Valderejo Natural Park, with local wildlife observation in accessible areas.

1:30 p.m – Lunch at a traditional restaurant, specialty: Tolosa beans.

  • Includes a glass of D.O.Ca. Rioja wine or local cider.

3:30 p.m – Transfer at the client’s expense to El Astillero (90 km – 1.5 hours).

5:00 p.m – Visit to the El Astillero Tourist Office for local information and passport stamp.

5:30 p.m – Walk through the old town and visit to the Maritime Museum.

6:30 p.m – Visit to the El Astillero Marina, with a tour on the history of navigation and local fishing traditions.

8:30 p.m – Dinner at the accommodation, specialty: bonito marmitako.

  • Includes a glass of young red wine or Cantabrian cider.

3:30 p.m –  Transfer at the client’s expense to Castillejo de Robledo (80 km – 1.5 hours).

5:00 p.m – Visit to the Castillejo de Robledo Tourist Office for local information and passport stamp.

5:30 p.m – Guided tour of the castle ruins, exploring the role of the Templars in defending the medieval frontier.

6:30 p.m – Stop at the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a 12th-century Romanesque gem, with insights on its ties to the Order of the Temple and key historical events.

7:30 p.m – Visit to a winery with wine tasting of D.O. Ribera del Duero, highlighting wines from the Ribera del Duero Soriana subzone.

9:00 p.m – Dinner at the accommodation, specialty: wood-fired roast suckling lamb.

3:00 p.m – Transfer at the client’s expense to Duruelo de la Sierra (75 km – 1.5 hours).

4:30 p.m – Visit to the Duruelo de la Sierra Tourist Office to obtain local information and stamp the passport.

5:00 p.m – Visit to the Magical Forest of Duruelo, a nature trail with wooden sculptures and accessible viewpoints.

6:00 p.m – Visit to the Castroviejo natural area and the Cueva Serena waterfall, known for unique rock formations and panoramic views.

8:30 p.m – Dinner at the accommodation, specialty: Soria-style pork belly with mashed potatoes.

10:00 p.m – Astronomical observation in the Serranía de Cuenca, at a certified Starlight site.

11:30 p.m – Overnight stay in Duruelo de la Sierra.


OPTIONAL: For adventure seekers, there's the possibility of doing the Cuerda La Graja via ferrata, with several difficulty levels and a 164 m zip line.

9:30 a.m – Stroll through the old town and visit to the Hermitage of San Mamés.

Food intolerances and allergies: It is the client’s responsibility to inform in advance about any food intolerance or allergy.

Client responsibility: TGTE is exempt from any responsibility for damages, injuries, or accidents that the client may suffer during the route, scheduled activities, or any other circumstance arising from their participation in the trip. Premium insurance included. (Check conditions).

Modifications due to closures or schedule changes: TGTE is not responsible for itinerary changes caused by facility closures, schedule modifications, or operational adjustments due to seasonal factors or special events. In these cases, alternatives will be proposed based on availability.

Late arrival to activities: It is the client’s responsibility to arrive on time for scheduled activities. In case of delay, the activity will be considered canceled with no right to a refund.

Official schedules and out-of-hours changes: Activities will be conducted according to official schedules. If the client wishes to make changes or schedule activities outside the official hours, this may be done with an additional charge, subject to availability. It is recommended to check in advance to manage necessary adjustments.

Confirmation voucher: Once the reservation is reconfirmed, TGTE will provide the final itinerary along with confirmation of all included services. Throughout the route, the client must have a paper or digital copy of the confirmation of all services provided by TGTE to present at establishments.

Stamp your Magic Passport: During the journey, you will have the opportunity to stamp your Magic Passport, recording the towns visited. Two formats are available: ➢ Physical format: Can be requested and collected at the tourist office of any Magic Town. ➢ Digital format: Available through the Magic Towns App, where you can digitize your physical passport or keep a digital record.
